At Appel Farm Arts Camp this summer, I am teaching a Multimedia/Printmaking class to campers, ages 10 - 13. On our first day of class, a camper told me how much she was looking forward to making her own t shirt this summer just like she did last summer at camp. I didn't have the heart to tell her that screen printing was not part of the curriculum. (Although I have many skills, screen printing is not one of them.) So instead, I enthusiastically agreed and promptly, began searching the internet for tutorials. I came across a simple screen printing technique that you can do at home with materials you already have or that are easy to buy (and CHEAP!). The three main things you need are pantyhose, Mod Podge and an embroidery hoop. No fancy equipment or harsh chemicals needed. This technique is super easy. Try it for yourself!
